Approval of Comprehensive Stewardship Plan
On October 2, 2026, Conservation Authority staff presented the Comprehensive Stewardship Plan to the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority Board of Directors, who approved the plan. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process—we couldn’t have done it without you!
The next step for the Preserve is to develop and implement five-year action plans for restoration, agriculture, Indigenous activities, and passive recreation. These plans will refine land-use designations, support site-specific assessments, identify and prioritize projects, and define resource requirements. A Stewardship Activity Working Group will guide their development by bringing together people from relevant sectors to contribute expertise and diverse perspectives. We will also continue to engage and collaborate with First Nations connected to the watershed, including members of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation, to identify and prioritize Indigenous activities.
While the Comprehensive Stewardship Planning process is now complete, there’s still lots happening across the Lake Simcoe watershed! If you’d like to stay informed about local conservation efforts, upcoming events, and the latest news (including Preserve updates), we invite you to subscribe to Buzz, our e-newsletter.
